eco-printing pioneer and CEO of Umweltdruckerei Lokay e.K
Ralf Lokay – Eco-printing pioneer and CEO of Druckerei Lokay e.K. („Blauer-Engel“- certified).
Ralf Lokay has consistently converted the entire family business according to ecological guidelines after experiencing a change in consciousness in his private life. After the birth of his first child, he initially banned products that were harmful to health and the environment from his everyday life. This was followed by the corresponding reorientation in the company. Since 1998, sustainability has been at the core of the company's philosophy and Lokay Printing House specialises in environmentally friendly print products.
The declared goal is not to do less badly, but to do good.
Lokay has been using 100% green electricity for 14 years, is EMAS and „Blauer Engel“ certified and has been able to save over 90% C02 emissions in the last 10 years through consistent redesign of the administration and production areas. A major milestone was the heat recovery of the printing machines, which replaced heating with fossil fuels. Germany's first fleet of company bicycles, process water use via its own rainwater cistern and the first Cradle-to-Cradle-certified printed products in Germany are further examples of Ralf Lokay's pioneering spirit.
The offer includes a large collection of sustainable paper types - from recycling to
„Blauer Engel“ to story paper. In cooperation with „Die Lithografen GmbH“, the optimal color matching on different, uncoated papers is a specialty of Lokay. Customers such as Alnatura, WELEDA, NABU and WWF trust in his expertise.
